New Article: Exploring More RPGUI
Hi all! Tami Deedrick just informed me of my lastest article being published in IBMSystemsMag.com’s new digital approach. You can find the article here.

Wicked!
I didn’t pay much attention to the first article because I was busy in Real Life (haha) but I think you’re doing ground breaking work here.
I found the articles at just the right level for a dyed in the wool RPG II guy who’s dabbled in web technologies before. I’ll tell Tammy that, too.
Will you set up a Yahoo group or equivalent so that a community can form around this effort? Or are you thinking that Sourceforge is all it needs. I’d like to put in a plug for email rather than a web-based forum. I get email pushed to me, I can filter it and save it for later. I rarely if ever visit web forums any more because I haven’t got the time.
I love that you’re using Mihael’s JSON utilities – I think we ought to use each other as much as possible. To that point, we ought to think about the ability to update the JSON service program. Mihael’s latest version is 1.2.1. Unfortunately, he doesn’t put the version number anywhere in the source code. I’ll suggest that to him.
I need to set aside some time to play, but I wanted to say thanks for this effort, and I hope a community springs up around it!

Thanks for the comments Buck. I also believe this project has the chance to make a big impact.
Concerning the forum vs. email thing – I fully agree, I hate visiting websites to see if new posts have been made. That is where SourceForge excels beyond the normal in that once you are signed in you can choose the “Monitor” link on many of the pages that involve contributions (i.e. Feature Requests, Help forum, Open Discussion Forum, etc) and that will email you whenever there is a post made. The best part is that it includes the text of the post in the email so you know whether or not you want to archive the email or click on the link to be deep linked to that exact post and make a response. I have found it to work quite well so far. Please give it a try and let me know what you think. Having all collaboration and lists on SourceForge can simplify things so I am hoping people like having it there.

@Buck: Thanx in advance. Concerning version numbers: Future versions will have ILEDocs docu blocks and tags in it with a revision tag which will state who did what and when. I think I won’t add the version number to the module source because the JSON service program is made up of multiple modules and not all modules have to change in a new version of the service program.
But perhaps you could present some good idea why a version number should be in the source. (BTW, it is in the binder source file.) Perhaps I’ll actually add it to the source.
… and yes … we should have more modules out there which can be reused. I’m working on that.
Regards
Mihael
You guys ROCK!
